Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 12, 2026

GLIMT takes your privacy seriously. This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have.

1. Who are we?

GLIMT is the data controller for personal data collected through the GLIMT platform.

2. What do we collect?

When you register

  • Name (first and last name)
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Password (stored encrypted)

When using the service

  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Registration history and bookmarks
  • Feedback you provide
  • Payment history (amounts and status – we do not store card numbers)

For Hosts

  • Application information and description
  • Bank account information for payouts (handled by Stripe)

Technical information

  • Platform you use (iOS, Android, or web browser)
  • Push notification settings and device tokens

3. Why do we collect data?

  • Deliver the service (create account, register for events, process payments)
  • Send confirmations, reminders, and notifications
  • Improve the platform
  • Protect against misuse

We process your data based on our agreement with you, consent, or our legitimate interest in operating and improving the service.

4. Who do we share data with?

Hosts: When you register for an event, the host can see your name and payment status. If you register anonymously, your first name and profile photo will not be shown on the public attendee list.

We use third-party providers for database, payments, email, push notifications, and hosting. Data is primarily stored in the EU. All providers are bound by data processing agreements.

We may disclose data to authorities when required by law.

We never sell your data.

5. Storage and security

Your data is primarily stored in the EU. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted password storage, and secure token-based authentication to protect your data.

  • Account information and registration history is stored until you delete your account.
  • Payment history is stored for a minimum of 5 years (accounting requirements).

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • See what data we hold about you
  • Correct errors in your data (can be done directly in your profile)
  • Delete your account (contact us at hei@glimt.life)
  • Receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Withdraw consent you have given

When you delete your account, payment history is retained for 5 years (accounting requirements).

You can file a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (datatilsynet.no) if you believe we are handling your data incorrectly.

7. Email and SMS notifications

We send emails about your glimt (confirmations, reminders, cancellations). You can turn these off in your profile — but then you'll miss important information about glimts you're signed up for.

We also occasionally send emails with information from Glimt — tips, new features and exciting glimts you can join. This is optional and you can turn it off in your profile.

We may send SMS about your glimt (e.g. last-minute messages from hosts or reminders). You can turn off SMS in your profile.

Occasionally we send SMS with information from Glimt. This is only sent to those who have given separate consent in their profile.

8. Cookies and local storage

GLIMT uses localStorage in the browser to keep you logged in. Stripe may set cookies for payment processing.

9. Age restriction

GLIMT is only for persons aged 16 and over.

10. Changes

We may update this privacy policy. For significant changes, we will notify you via email.
